WE KNOW THE DRILL:

Military Experience Matters

Our Team

GLTaC supports military training efforts worldwide with translations of a broad mix of training material. The teams we assemble to do this type of work have prior military experience, with many attending Officer Advanced Courses in the United States. The primary focus of GLTaC is to ensure the correct use of military terminology, tactical and doctrinal knowledge, and proper translation of acronyms. Finding the best-qualified people to perform QC on the translations provides a level of confidence that the translated material can be read and understood with the exact meaning and intent of the original. We do not discuss the work we do, nor do we mention specific training for a given country. These are some of the many reasons you should choose GLTaC for your military translation needs.

Our Leadership

GLTaC is honored to have a graduate of the United States Military Academy serving as its Vice President. Doug Strock graduated from West Point with a degree in Aerospace Engineering as a member of the Class of ’82, Company E-2. While attending West Point, he had the chance to attend the Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) course at the United States Air Force Academy.

Over his thirty-year career, he served in the Field Artillery, Transportation Corps, and Signal Corps. His service included a deployment to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF II) as a convoy commander supplying the Marines outside of Fallujah. While performing over sixty-three combat line haul missions, he was wounded by an IED and received a Purple Heart and the Combat Action Badge. He served on Active Duty, in the Army Reserve, and with the Michigan Army National Guard. During his career, he lived in Germany, Korea, and Iraq and traveled to twenty-nine countries.

He retired at the rank of Major after serving as an officer, non-commissioned officer, and warrant officer. His extensive military experience and engineering background, combined with an MBA in Information Systems from Oklahoma City University, gives him a broad base of technical knowledge to support the wide range of technical translations done by GLTaC.

Our Success

Our military translation success is a result of our disciplined approach to several critical functions:

  • Organized and efficient project management
  • Recruiting, screening, and qualifying only the best translators for the subject
  • The most rigorous quality control methodology in use by any Language Service Company (LSC)

Going beyond basic military translation, we developed several key items critical to our ongoing work with the Army:

  • An acronym list
  • A comprehensive style guide
  • An up-to-date glossary of terminology
  • A library of graphics, diagrams, and images

We apply the same successful approach to all the work we do for the military, whether it is for vehicle maintenance technical manuals, complex presentations, or in-depth tactical and doctrinal material.

GLTaC is currently listed in the System for Award

Management (SAM), but is not on the GSA Schedule. GLTaC has the ability to translate military material up to FOUO in-house and can team with other agencies to translate classified material.

Past Performance

The translations done by GLTaC undergo a methodical review by our clients using the following criteria:

C.8.7. Military Standard 1916, dated April 1, 1996, will be used to random sample the quality of the translated deliverables. The quality of the use of the Spanish language will be evaluated for grammatical correctness and comprehension of the source language. The target-language translation and revised work must reflect the essential meaning of the source language version, especially when dealing with military terminology. Material will be reviewed, tested, accepted or rejected at a 98% confidence level in the following areas:

  1. Errors of punctuation, misuse of capital letters, and misuse or lack of accent marks
  2. Misspelled words and poor word selection
  3. Improper gender and number, minor errors of syntax, and minor omissions or misinterpretations that do not seriously alter the intended meaning of the source language
  4. Major omissions or misinterpretations that alter the intent of the source language and major syntactic errors

C.8.8. The government intends to sample the number of paragraphs necessary to achieve a 98% confidence level from each unit. Any unit scoring below the acceptable confidence level will be rejected.
